Adventure Camping & Leisure Company Ltd, operator of the Aħrax campsite in Mellieħa, and its director Vincent Vella have denied allegations by caravan owners of illegally collecting rent. In a counter-protest filed in response to a judicial protest lodged last year by the Aħrax Camp Site Association, the company said payments were due under agreements signed by the owners themselves. The association had also accused the Lands Authority of allowing the company to collect rent without legal title over the site. Adventure Camping & Leisure denied occupying government land illegally, insisting the caravan owners were occupying the land without title, and described the association's protest as defamatory.
