Os Caravan appoints new CEO and moves to new premises

A motorhome broke down on the E18 highway in Agder, Norway, blocking eastbound traffic. Police arrived at the scene, and the road was reopened by 10:53.

Managing director Halvor Barikmo leads three employees and a fourth person in taking over the business and establishing Kristiansand Caravan og Fritid AS. The new dealer will represent Adria, Sun Living, Kabe and Kabe Affinity, while Bürstner, Hymer and Carado will no longer be sold as new from these premises. All 13 employees transfer to the new company, which will also serve as a service point for previously sold brands.

Insurance company Tryg Forsikring warns that many motorhome owners start the season illegally, forgetting to re-register and reactivate insurance after winter storage. In 2025, the company recorded over 2,600 motorhome claims, with the most expensive related to moisture damage. A moisture test is recommended once per insurance year, or compensation rights may be lost.

Jarle Nilssen, 63, travels 900 km from Suldal to Sarpsborg to service his 8.8-meter Morelo luxury motorhome. He refuses local workshops, choosing Stamsaas Fritid instead. This illustrates high customer loyalty and specialization in large motorhome servicing.

At the Ånestad checkpoint in Norway, a van with a trailer was stopped due to exceeding the permissible weight ratio and unmarked overhang. The trailer weighed more than 1.5 times the towing vehicle's own weight, which is prohibited. Over two days, 520 heavy vehicles were checked, with 61 heavy and 11 light vehicles subjected to extended inspection. A total of 31 use bans, 7 reports, and 3 overload fines were issued.
