In Brief

Dreo launched the TurboCool 516S fan with water misting for RVs, while Webasto updated its Cool Top Trail air conditioner line with the greener refrigerant R32.

Two manufacturers have introduced cooling solutions for motorhomes, campers, and caravans.

Dreo TurboCool 516S — misting fan

Dreo released the TurboCool 516S fan equipped with water misting technology. It creates a fog of 11-micron droplets that evaporate without dampening upholstery, reducing the perceived temperature by up to 3 °C. Noise level is 20 dB in HyperSilent mode, tank capacity is 1.3 L, and autonomy reaches 12 hours. The fan requires no roof mounting, consumes little power, and is controlled via smartphone.

Webasto Cool Top Trail — air conditioners with R32

Webasto introduced updated roof air conditioners from the Cool Top Trail series using refrigerant R32. This gas has three times lower global warming potential compared to R410A, and the units are 0.5 kg lighter. The line includes five models with capacities from 2 to 3.6 kW, suitable for motorhomes, campers, and caravans.

Converting a caravan into a guest room risks a heavy fine

Using a caravan as a permanent guest room on a property may be classified as illegal construction. Under French law, if the caravan loses mobility (wheels removed, placed on a concrete base) and is used for more than three months a year, it is treated as a building. The fine for such a violation can reach €90,000, and the court may order demolition with a daily penalty of up to €500 for non-compliance.
