Jean-Claude and Christiane, retirees from the Gard department, have lived for eight years in a motorhome measuring 8 meters long and weighing 5 tons. They travel through France, Spain and Morocco, returning to Gard in March and September to meet family and visit doctors.
The couple bought a used motorhome for 95,000 euros and a trailer for 6,000 euros, which extends the total length of the rig to 12.6 meters. They note the challenges of maneuvering such a rig and the high costs of fuel, maintenance and parking, which they say are comparable to those of a traditional home. According to them, this lifestyle offers freedom and comfort, and they do not regret their choice.
