Water System Maintenance
Blu Technology and Liquified have jointly released a seasonal Spring Refresh Kit for comprehensive maintenance of RV water systems. The kit includes a certified sanitizer BLU BLEACHFREE for plumbing and an enzyme-based tank cleaner, eliminating the need for chlorine. A limited series is available on the manufacturers' websites for $54.99 to $64.99.
PFAS Regulation
The New Mexico Environmental Improvement Board approved labeling requirements for products containing PFAS. For RVs manufactured from January 1, 2027, labeling is mandatory in the owner's manual, but the vehicles themselves are exempt from reporting and a future ban on products with PFAS scheduled for 2032.
Diesel Exhaust Fluid Sensor Rule Change
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has rescinded the requirement for mandatory diesel exhaust fluid quality sensors in diesel exhaust systems. The new rules allow manufacturers to use nitrogen oxide sensors instead of urea sensors, which should reduce false alarms and engine shutdowns. The changes apply to RVs and other diesel-powered vehicles. The agency plans to formally codify these rules in federal emissions control regulations later this year.
Fresh Water and Sanitation Innovations
Manufacturers have introduced new solutions for RV fresh water and sanitation systems. Walex released Commando liquid for tank and sensor cleaning, and CompoCloset introduced the S1 dry toilet with waste separation. The trend toward off-grid camping is driving demand for water-saving solutions that extend time between dump station visits.
