Dump Station
Sani-dump, waste disposal point, black water disposal, cassette disposal, sanidump, effluent station
A dump station is a facility at campgrounds or service areas where RV black water tanks and motorhome toilet cassettes can be emptied safely into the sewage system.
In the USA dump stations are free or cost a token ($5–10) on BLM lands, in national parks and at many truck stops. In Europe they are generally part of campsite service points or dedicated networks such as Flot Bleu. Apps Park4Night, Campercontact and iOverlander help locate the nearest dump station.
FAQ
How do you use a dump station?
Pull up to the drain inlet, connect your sewer hose to the motorhome's waste outlet, remove the cap and open the black water valve first, then the grey water valve. Rinse the hose with clean water after emptying. Re-fill the black tank with a little clean water for rinsing. Wear disposable gloves throughout.
Can you find free dump stations?
Yes. In the USA many Flying J, Love's and Pilot travel centres offer free dumping with a fuel purchase. BLM lands have free stations throughout the western states. In Europe, municipal aires and Stellplätze often include free disposal or charge just €1–3 for a token.
