Over 100 electric tow cars for caravans, but range remains a barrier for owners

Vantrack presented the modular LightCamp concept for the electric Kia PV5 van at the Campervan Days exhibition in the Netherlands. The concept features a removable kitchen with an induction hob and sink, and a roof with a 96x65 cm panoramic skylight and sleeping area. The basic module kit is estimated to cost around 10,000 euros, while the Kia PV5 vehicle itself starts at 25,000 euros.

VanTrack has unveiled the LightCamp modular conversion for the electric Kia PV5 van. The base package with a modular rear system and slide-out kitchen is estimated to cost around €10,000. The system features a removable bed module, an external kitchen with an induction cooktop, and a roof with a skylight and rooftop tent.

A parked and inhabited caravan caught fire on Friday afternoon on Oude Baan street in Breda. The vehicle had an orange sticker attached, authorizing the municipality to remove it if not moved in time. The cause of the fire and details about damage or casualties are not disclosed.

The municipality of Oost Gelre recommends approving the construction of a storage facility for campers and caravans at Vragenderweg 65. Two storage halls will be built on the site of a former farm, with a final decision expected on May 12.

According to an ACSI study, the number of EV models capable of towing a caravan has increased from 3 to over 100 in six years. Towing reduces the driving range by more than half. The list of the most affordable 2026 models includes the Zeekr X, Lynk & Co 02, Volvo EX30, and Smart #1, priced from €35,990 with a permissible trailer weight of 1,200 to 1,600 kg.

Manufacturer Stellantis has issued a recall for 18 variants of vans, including the Fiat Ducato, which are commonly used as base vehicles for motorhomes. The recall concerns a potentially defective fuel line that could leak. Owners are advised to contact their dealer for inspection and replacement.
