Poland abolishes e-TOLL road toll for passenger cars with trailers from September 21, 2026

Polish President Karol Nawrocki signed an amendment to the Public Roads Act, exempting passenger cars with trailers from registration in the e-TOLL system and payment of road tolls. The change takes effect on September 21, 2026. Previously, the toll applied if the combined permissible mass of the vehicle combination exceeded 3.5 tonnes. Now the decisive factor is the permissible mass of the towing vehicle: if it is up to 3.5 tonnes, no toll is charged regardless of the trailer's mass. The fine of 500 zloty for such vehicles is abolished, and pending administrative proceedings are discontinued. Funds on e-TOLL prepaid accounts can be refunded upon request within six months. The change does not affect toll sections of the A1, A2 and A4 motorways.
