Popular £2m North East caravan park goes up for sale with permission for more pitches

Members of Currie Star FC in south west Edinburgh have raised concerns after a group of caravans parked on their pitches without permission. Around a dozen caravans and other vehicles were spotted at Dovecot Park on Lanark Road. The community council has contacted the City of Edinburgh Council and Police Scotland about the unauthorised encampment. The club, which serves over 400 children, recently spent a six-figure sum on pitch upgrades and fears the caravans will prevent planned maintenance ahead of the new season.

Riverside Caravan Park in Elgin, Scotland, has been put on the market as owner Christine Mitchell retires. The 6.1-hectare site on the River Lossie operates seasonally from April to October, with 40 residential caravan pitches, 28 touring pitches, and a tent area. The sale includes the owner's chalet and 4 hectares of additional land with development potential. Asking price: offers over £375,000.

Rounton Coffee, based in Northallerton, UK, converted a 60-year-old Viking Fibreline caravan purchased on eBay into a fully equipped mobile coffee shop. The restoration took nearly five months. The caravan will be used at events across Yorkshire and the North East, with an estimated 10,000 cups of coffee to be brewed over the summer.

At Halewood Caravan Park on March 16, 2025, a fight erupted over loud music. Kevin Tucker punched Alan Crosby, breaking his shoulder, then Barry Parkes intervened with a hammer, but Tucker doused him with petrol. The incident occurred in front of children. Tucker received a 10-month suspended sentence, Parkes 16 weeks suspended.

Buccleuch Estates has proposed a tourism development on 17.7 hectares near Canonbie, Dumfriesshire, featuring 137 lodges and conversion of the historic Irvine House (built 1792). The application will be considered by Dumfries and Galloway Council's planning committee next week, with a planning officer recommending approval subject to conditions. The project is expected to create 37 jobs and requires all lodges to be used for holiday accommodation only, along with installation of EV charging points and planting of 1,600 trees.

The Norfolk Motorhome & Campervan Show, also known as the Out & About Live Summer Party, will take place at the Norfolk Showground from July 17 to 19. The event will feature a wide range of new and used motorhomes, campervans and caravans from UK dealers, along with hundreds of retailers showcasing accessories and touring equipment. Attendees can expect a vehicle exhibition, expert talks, family activities, camping, evening entertainment, a silent disco, and organized trips to the Norfolk Broads.
