Mercedes and Kabe bet on all-wheel-drive luxury motorhome

The autumn season offers opportunities to use caravans and motorhomes and to purchase them. According to Dags Husvagnscenter, autumn clearance means around 20–25 vehicles are sold with autumn offers, while new 2027 models arrive. Among the new models is the Knaus Nordwind, a new caravan series adapted for Nordic conditions. On 19–20 September the centre holds a weekend with campaigns and open viewings. Autumn also concludes the company's 40th anniversary.

Annika and Claes-Ove Asp from Borås intend to sell their villa and buy a larger, more luxurious motorhome than their current one to live in permanently. The couple have visited the motorhome and caravan show at Elmia in Jönköping since 1987 and bought their first motorhome in 2003. The Elmia Husvagn Husbil show is taking place this week and is expected to attract up to 35,000 visitors; the halls feature new models ranging from small caravans priced at a few hundred thousand kronor to motorhomes costing 10–15 million kronor.

Remo Barmettler, 34, from Oftringen, Switzerland, built a complete wooden living house on a 1985 truck that previously served as a commercial vehicle. The project took about three years to complete. The interior includes a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and seating area. The rig also carries a restored 1970 Fiat, which is lowered by crane for city trips. The family is traveling through Europe from Switzerland via Germany and Denmark to Sweden, where they stayed two nights at a stopover in Lerum and planned four days in Jönköping.

At the Elmia motorhome show in Jönköping, opening on September 9, Midland, together with Husbilskompisar and Sunlux, will organize contests. Visitors can test their reaction speed at the Midland booth and receive a 20% discount on autumn oil changes and fuel system treatment. Injector Cleaner and Water Remover products will be sold at the booth for 100 kronor per bottle.

According to the HRF 2026 survey, 43% of Generation Z in Sweden are open to caravan holidays, and 24% have actively considered it in the past two years. Comfort (71%) and price (66%) are key factors. Many beginners start by renting or buying a used caravan: three out of four current owners bought their first caravan second-hand. The Paninder family from Helsingborg, who began with a borrowed caravan, now spends 60–80 nights a year in their caravan.

Kabe has introduced the Imperial 630 TDL FK for the 2027 model year, a luxury caravan with an unusual layout: the kitchen is at the front, the living area in the middle, and the bedroom at the rear. It measures 8.50 m in length, 2.50 m in width, and 2.78 m in height, with a permissible gross weight of 2,300 kg and a base price of 93,495 euros. The caravan features a hybrid induction hob, oven, microwave, 167-liter compressor refrigerator, Alde Compact 3000 central heating, AGS II Pro underfloor heating, and a Dometic FreshJet FJX7 2600 air conditioner.
