MDC USA has unveiled the XT22HRT Off-Grid Extreme, a 22-foot travel trailer that is the largest the brand has built for the US market. It is the eighth model in the Off-Grid Extreme range, which now runs from the 9-foot XT9 to the new flagship. The trailer will arrive across the MDC USA dealer network in early 2027.
External Entertainment Hub
For the first time on an Off-Grid Extreme model, the XT22HRT has a dedicated integrated external Entertainment Hub. It combines a Jensen 43-inch smart TV, a Dometicⓘ 60L compressor fridge, a Fusion marine stereo with 6-inch speakers, a phone charging dock, RCA and HDMI points and 12-volt LED mood lighting. Together with the external kitchen, it turns the area beneath the patio awning into a second living zone.
Off-grid power and running gear
The trailer carries 1,500Ah of Renogy lithium battery capacity and 1,400 watts of rooftop solar, expandable to 2,000 watts through three dedicated portable solar inputs. Fresh water capacity is 93 gallons and cargo carrying capacity is nearly 2,000 pounds. The dry weight is approximately 7,935 lbs and the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is 9,920 lbs. The floor plan measures 22 feet, while the full length from rear bumper to the front tip of the hitch tongue is 29.8 feet. Running gear includes Tandem X-TRACK independent coil spring suspension with two heavy-duty shock absorbers on each side, a galvanised steel chassis and a Cruisemaster DO45 hitch.
Layout
The rear holds a lounge and kitchen, while a private queen island bed sits at the front. A full bathroom with a separate shower and cassette toilet is positioned between the two areas. The layout accommodates two people, with space for a third on the lounge seating, which converts into an additional bed. The kitchen features a Norcold compressor refrigerator, a Furrion three-burner gas cooktop with integrated oven and a built-in microwave. Other features include an oak countertop, a deep plumbed sink and a 24-inch indoor television.
MDC USA founder and President Vaughan Hindley said the XT19HRT had become the most popular Off-Grid Extreme model and there was clear demand to take the concept further with more space, capability and comfort. He called the XT22HRT the most extreme travel trailer the company has built.
