Two new takes on RVs: a camper for dogs and a retro caravan

On Monday, August 10, 2026, a camper collided with a lamppost on Van Eesterensingel in Alblasserdam. The vehicle sustained damage to its bumper, hood, and frame, and a fluid leak occurred. The lamppost was also damaged. The camper's owner is known to the municipality, and the damage will be settled through insurance.

A caravan burned down completely in the Muziekwijk district of Almere overnight. Firefighters arrived around 02:15 but could not save it. No injuries; cause under investigation.

Kip has introduced a significantly updated version of the Kompakt, featuring a new interior and a kitchen unit that can be used outside the caravan. The caravan retains its compact dimensions: 570 cm long, 183 cm wide, and 225 cm high. The kerb weight is 790 kg for the Travel version and 820 kg for the Adventure, with a standard maximum mass of 1,000 kg (optionally 1,200 kg). The interior has been completely redesigned with new materials and LED lighting. Production remains in Hoogeveen.

In seven European countries, the highest-rated campsite and motorhome stop in each country were selected based on reviews left by campers over the past year. On Sunday morning at Kop van 't Land, the driver of a mini camper with a caravan forgot to apply the handbrake when getting out. The vehicle rolled off the ferry ramp, hit a fence, and came to rest on the stones of the bank. A passenger and a dog jumped out in time. The driver was checked by ambulance staff, recovery took until after 11 a.m., and ferry service was suspended.
