Automóveis MCcars, a company based in Guimarães, Portugal, has made motorhomes available for temporary housing to people left homeless by storm Kristin. According to some sources, 12 motorhomes were offered; others report 10. The initiative is a private effort and part of a broader wave of aid, including fundraising and collection of essential items.
A company representative said demand far exceeds capacity: they cannot fulfill even a third of the requests received. Storm Kristin caused fatalities and severe damage in the districts of Leiria, Coimbra and Santarém. The government has extended the state of emergency until February 8.
