Derbyshire startup enters motorhome and campervan rental market

The British company Vanny Campers has unveiled the Phantom camper van, based on a 2023 VW Crafter. The van, with 68,000 km on the odometer, was converted into a self-sufficient living space featuring a shower, kitchen, two sleeping areas, and a 300W solar power system.

Police are investigating incidents around an illegal caravan camp established on private land within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Hertfordshire. Dacorum Borough Council issued a temporary stop notice after concrete hardstanding was laid, followed by an emergency injunction halting further work and placement of static caravans. A planning application to change the land use from agricultural to 14 Gypsy and Traveller pitches has received 44 objections.

The Caravan Club Limited has applied for a premises licence for the New Forest Centenary Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite in Bransgore. The application seeks permission to sell alcohol for on-site and off-site consumption from 8am to midnight daily, along with hosting regulated entertainment and providing late-night refreshments.

Motorhomes, caravans and vehicles over six metres long will be banned from parking at Falls of Falloch in Loch Lomond National Park. The ban will take effect after a 12-week car park reconstruction that began on March 30. The changes aim to address safety and overcrowding issues on the A82 route section.

A planning inspector has ruled that an unauthorised caravan encampment on protected green belt land in Surrey Hills must be cleared. The landowners submitted an application for three pitches for static and touring caravans but began work before validation. The inspector acknowledged the family had nowhere else to go, but found the permanent harm to the valued landscape outweighed this consideration.

Northumberland County Council has rejected a controversial plan to expand a caravan park by 180 pitches and build a leisure hub. The project, which included a swimming pool, gym, and café, faced 197 local objections, with the committee chairman comparing it to 'Disneyland'. The application was refused by nine votes to two.
