Bulgaria's tourism ministry plans to develop a network of motorhome stopovers, camping areas and service infrastructure. At least 100 sites with investment potential are to be identified by the end of 2027, with funding scheduled for 2028–2030. As of October 2026, the national tourism register lists 78 categorised camping places, and about 20,000 camping registrations were recorded between January and August, 43% of them inland. By June 2027 the ministry must develop an interdepartmental mechanism for selecting projects and determine the legal changes needed to separate parking, camping and servicing. Tourism minister Ilin Dimitrov said 215,000 new motorhomes and caravans were registered in Europe in 2025.
