At the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Dethleffs presented the C.Core concept motorhome based on the Volkswagen Crafter chassis. The design uses Necto aluminum panels inspired by bird bone structure, reducing weight by 25–45 kg compared to traditional materials.
Power comes from an expandable solar panel up to 600 W and a 400 Ah lithium-ion battery, which the company says enables off-grid use from May to September. A closed-loop greywater treatment system with multi-stage filtration allows water reuse without filter replacement for the season, purifying water to a level above tap water. An auxiliary heating system running on waste hydrogenated vegetable oil is also included.
The concept is not intended for series production and will serve as a mobile laboratory for testing technologies. The company plans to incorporate some of them into future models.
