Turkey's caravan industry, which boomed during the pandemic, is now in crisis. According to fiberglass production master and Tortugas Karavan operator Mecnun Akbay, about 80% of manufacturers have closed. Raw material prices have tripled in a year, and the main problem is a shortage of qualified masters and apprentices.
Foreign tourists mostly seek repairs, while locals and expats order new caravans. The key issue remains the lack of apprentices and an aging workforce. Despite an outwardly favorable picture, the sector faces a serious economic downturn.
