Turkey's caravan industry is showing strong growth. In the first four months of 2025, caravan (trailer) exports reached $4.1 million, while imports stood at $1.3 million, resulting in a positive trade balance of $2.8 million. Key export markets included Germany ($906,300), the United Kingdom ($713,700), and France ($376,000). Overall, exports go to Germany, the UK, France, Austria, and Spain.
Growth strategy
The Caravan Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (KARİD) has presented a "2035" roadmap aiming for Turkey to become one of the world's top three producers. Association head Ahmet Fazlıoğlu emphasized that local companies stand out on the European market through R&D investments, offering modern interior solutions, lightweight and durable materials, and advanced technological systems. The sector forecasts sustained growth of at least 40% over the next 10 years, focusing on exports to Scandinavia, the USA, Canada, and the Gulf countries.
Success stories
One example is entrepreneur Ülkü Kocaoğlu, a former foreign trade manager. In 2021, she opened a caravan and motorhome factory in the Hamzabey Organized Industrial Zone (Turkey) on an area of 5,000 sqm, using government subsidies. The enterprise employs 22 people and exports to Germany, Bulgaria, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. The company also converts minivans into motorhomes, increasing their added value before export.
Industry priorities
Industry priorities include implementing European safety standards (EN 1949), combating illegal production, training qualified personnel, and reducing taxes on motorhomes (motorized caravans) to stimulate the domestic market.
