On July 15, 2026, a severe thunderstorm with hail and heavy rain struck the Lake Constance region in Baden-Württemberg. In Kressbronn, at the "Zum Seglerhafen" campsite, a 30-meter tree fell onto four camping vehicles. A family inside one of the motorhomes managed to get out before the tree hit and was not injured. Police estimate the damage at the campsite at around 150,000 euros.
Numerous trees were toppled across the region, roads were blocked, and rail service between Friedrichshafen and Lindau was temporarily disrupted. In Aitrach, a woman received a mild electric shock from lightning through a charging phone. In Reutlingen and Schemmerhofen, a layer of hail several centimeters thick covered the streets, and about 6,000 households were temporarily without power. The German Weather Service warned of further storms until the morning of July 16.
