Sardinia has seen a rise in illegal campervan parking in protected areas. In Porto Ferro, police fined a group 1500 euros for parking a camper in a pine forest, unauthorized camping, and littering. The vehicle was uninsured and confiscated. This is part of local efforts to prevent fires and protect the environment.
In the Molentargius Nature Park in Quartu, park rangers and the forest service stopped an illegal campervan. The offenders had set up camp at the entrance on Via Don Giorgi, hanging laundry and placing furniture. The report came from park visitors. Similar incidents have occurred before, with illegal parking also reported on the coast and in the city center, where campervans and tents occupy public spaces.
