On the night between Wednesday and Thursday, on the island of Cres (Croatia), a pine tree fell on a camper van in the Kovacine campsite due to a thunderstorm, blocking the exit for those inside. The incident occurred around midnight.
Firefighters from the city of Cres carried out two operations within minutes: first they checked a false fire alarm in a building, and then ten minutes later they responded to the campsite. Three volunteer firefighters used chainsaws to remove the tree and clear the passage, allowing the occupants to safely exit the vehicle. No one was injured in either incident.
According to Slovenian sources, after two weeks of heat, thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty winds hit Croatia, toppling trees in the north and locally flooding farmland.
