Accident timeline
On Thursday afternoon, on the B402 near Meppen (Emsland district, Lower Saxony), a 69-year-old caravan driver attempted a U-turn and failed to notice an approaching truck, causing a collision.
Casualties
The caravan driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was trapped in his vehicle. His 68-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries. Both were taken to hospital by helicopter and ambulance. The truck driver was unharmed.
Aftermath
The B402 was fully closed for six hours.
