Sentence
A Tenerife court has sentenced a man for misappropriating €53,000 paid as a partial payment for a motorhome priced at €86,000. The defendant pleaded guilty and accepted 18 months in prison, repayment of €53,000 and an €840 fine.
Prosecution case
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Prosecutor's Office had initially sought three years in prison and a €1,600 fine. Buyers transferred €53,000 to the defendant's company but received neither the motorhome nor a refund. Although the defendant's son is the formal owner and manager of the company, the father, acting as an authorized representative, managed and controlled the firm.
Possible release
The convicted man, who is in prison for other cases, may avoid imprisonment in this case if the court suspends the sentence.
