A converted camper van worth £10,000 was destroyed when a tree fell on it during Storm Austen in Hampshire. Owner Paul Jelly, 62, spent three years and £10,000 customising the vehicle, which police found damaged at around 1.30pm on Friday in the car park of his building on Heath Road in Locks Heath. The van itself cost about £5,500, with the rest spent on a converted kitchen, electrics, gas bottles and insulation. The tree also badly damaged a red Peugeot and blocked a neighbour from accessing her driveway; private tree surgeons were called in to remove it, and Hampshire police directed traffic around the blocked lane.
