James Southey, 50, died from suffocation after a large tree fell on his static caravan during Storm Goretti in Cornwall. The incident occurred on January 9 with wind speeds up to 90 mph (144 km/h). The tree, deemed healthy in 2025, crushed the living area, and emergency crews could not recover his body until the next day due to risks from live electrics and gas canisters. The coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
