A motorhome parked on Travesía de Arteixo, next to Costa de María Pita, caught fire on Saturday at around 14.00. Firefighters reached the scene five minutes after the flames appeared. They reported explosions during the fire, probably from the tyres or the battery, and said the blaze may have started in an appliance.
The fire was put out quickly but destroyed the motorhome completely. It also damaged the side of a lorry's cover. No one was injured. Witnesses said the vehicle had been parked there for years and that there was another fire at the spot a year ago. Residents took fire extinguishers from their building entrances to help with the second lorry, with support from the local police in Arteixo. Owners of other cars parked nearby moved them before the flames could reach them.
Arteixo firefighters said the CEP emergency service, civil protection and the Guardia Civil also attended. One person got out of the vehicle before the fire spread and did not need medical help. Footage shared on social media shows the flames reaching the roof of the lorry as well.
