On Sunday, July 12, 2026, a large fire in Fideris, Graubünden, destroyed three shelters containing numerous vehicles and materials. No injuries were reported. Around 100 firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the forest. Upon arrival, the three shelters, covering an area of about 70 by 30 meters, were fully engulfed in flames. Inside were several motorhomes, construction machinery, building materials, and at least one truck. The fire also damaged an adjacent barn with a single-family home, spreading to its roof. The blaze was brought under control and extinguished after about five hours. Several firefighters suffered circulatory problems due to heat and physical exertion and were treated on site. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
