Two incidents in July 2026 saw motorhomes catch fire while in motion. On the A1 motorway near Pelzerhaken (Switzerland), a vehicle heading to the island of Fehmarn caught fire. The driver noticed the flames while driving. Traffic was stopped twice, and damage was estimated at around 60,000 euros.
In Tübingen (Germany), a motorhome also caught fire while driving on a Saturday morning. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle could not continue. Damage was in the low thousands of euros; the driver was unharmed.
