Lake Tekir, located at an altitude of 2200 m at the foot of the Erciyes Ski Resort in Kayseri, has overflowed its banks. The cause is snowmelt and heavy rains. The water level rose sharply, flooding some caravans, tents and containers set up on the shore.
A 73-year-old local resident, Duran Turanary, said he had never seen such a water level in his life. The lake, which almost completely dried up in summer, has filled again. The flooding was recorded by drone on May 9, 2026. Authorities are monitoring changes in the water level.
