In the Erciyes region (Kayseri, Turkey), heavy rainfall caused the water level of Lake Tekir (Tekir Gölü), located at an altitude of 2200 meters, to rise sharply and flood the shoreline. Caravans, tents and containers belonging to holidaymakers were submerged.
The lake is fed by meltwater. Local residents noted that such a rise in water level had not been observed before. No casualties have been reported.
