Caravan overturns on Yeongdong Expressway in South Korea ahead of Chuseok

At around 2 p.m. on 14 September, a caravan being towed by a vehicle overturned at the 208-kilometer mark on the Yeongdong Expressway in the direction of Incheon, between the Daegwallyeong and Jinbu interchanges. The exact cause is under investigation. Caravans can lose stability in strong winds, during sudden steering, speeding, or uneven loading; crosswinds are particularly dangerous in mountainous areas such as Daegwallyeong. Towing drivers are advised to check the hitch, safety chains, tire pressure, and cargo securement before departure, avoid speeding and abrupt maneuvers, and move to safety after an accident.
