The incident occurred around 11:35 in the western part of the Westerscheldetunnel in the Netherlands. A caravan attached to a car jackknifed, causing serious damage. Both tubes were fully closed for safety. No injuries were reported, only material damage.
According to one source, traffic towards Borssele will resume around 13:00, while the other lane will remain closed until at least 14:00. Another source states the eastern tube reopened around 13:30, and the western tube only by 15:15 after the caravan was removed. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
Drivers are advised to postpone their trip or take a route via Antwerp.
