The environmental group Amigos de los Humedales del Sur de Alicante (AHSA) has filed a complaint with SEPRONA over the dumping of wastewater from a motorhome near the Charcolís salt pan in the Salinas de Santa Pola Nature Park. The incident occurred on 5 September, when an AHSA member birdwatching in the area found a motorhome emptying its waste tank. According to the complaint, the water was discharged onto the road and accumulated in a large puddle on the shoulder before seeping into the ground. AHSA claims such discharges have increased since a bin that had been in place for over twenty years was removed, and questions the Ministry of Transport's responsibility for cleaning this section of the N-332.
