Carado unveils off-road camper based on VW Crafter

Carado, part of the Hymer Group, has introduced the CV595 X-Edition, an off-road camper based on the VW Crafter 4×4. The 5.98-meter model is powered by a 163-hp diesel engine with an automatic transmission. Standard features include underbody protection, windows all around, a 1.98-meter interior height, a table, two swiveling front seats, a two-seat bench with ISOFIX, a mini kitchen, a toilet with shower, and a 200×136 cm bed. Price: €88,599.

Multiple cars and a caravan collide on Route 82: helicopter and full closure near Réde

A multi-vehicle crash occurred at the 38 km mark of Route 82 between Veszprémvarsány and Bakonyszentkirály, involving three cars and a caravan towed by a passenger car. Preliminary reports indicate an Audi driver attempted to overtake, first sideswiping a caravan towed by a German-registered Ford, then colliding head-on with an Austrian-registered Hyundai and hitting a Citroën. Rescue crews used hydraulic cutters to free one victim; a medical helicopter landed at the scene. Two people sustained serious injuries, four sustained minor injuries, including two children. The road section was fully closed, with traffic diverted to side roads.

Toy-Factory unveils redesigned DA VINCI 5.4 at Tokyo Camping Car Show 2026

Japanese manufacturer Toy-Factory presented a fully redesigned DA VINCI 5.4 motorhome at the Tokyo Camping Car Show 2026. The vehicle is based on a right-hand-drive Fiat Ducato L2H2 with front-wheel drive, a 2.2-liter turbodiesel producing 180 hp and 450 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The base price is 15.84 million yen (tax included). Standard equipment includes a 70-liter refrigerator, microwave, independent heater, dry toilet, 1,500 W inverter, and two 95 Ah lead-acid batteries. Lithium batteries, water heater, shower, and air conditioning remain optional.

Ford Transit conversion costs more than the vehicle itself

Gone Mobile Vans charges $75,000 to $95,000 for converting a 2026 Ford Transit, on top of the base price of $59,180 for the van. This brings the minimum total to $134,180. The conversion includes suspension upgrades, tires, exterior storage, and interior features: a fridge, sink, shower, toilet, EcoFlow system with 10 kWh storage, and two 100 W solar panels. The company has not disclosed the final price, weight, or payload of this specific build.

Atlantis deliberately added 600 kg to its carbon motorhome

Italian manufacturer Atlantis has introduced the Carbon 4x4, switching from a front-wheel-drive Fiat Ducato to a four-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The new model weighs 600 kg more than the road-going Carbon 695, as the carbon monocoque now serves as the base for a heavier expedition vehicle. Dimensions are 6750 mm in length and 2150 mm in width, with a gross vehicle weight of 4100 kg. The motorhome features a new seamless living capsule with a 10-year warranty. Pre-orders are open, but price and curb weight remain undisclosed. The public debut will be at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf from August 28 to September 6, 2026.

Grand California gets solar panels and new lithium batteries

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has updated the Grand California motorhome with a photovoltaic system and lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) batteries. Instead of the standard 92 Ah AGM battery, buyers can choose two LiFePO₄ batteries, increasing usable capacity by nearly 40% from about 46 Ah to 64 Ah. The new batteries last about five times more charge-discharge cycles and have deep discharge protection. Depending on the version (Grand California 600 or 680), solar panel output is 104 W or 174 W. In Germany, replacing AGM with LiFePO₄ starts at €833, and the full package with panels starts at €1,719.55 for the 600 and €2,326.45 for the 680. The update also includes driver assistance systems (fatigue monitor, intersection assistant), a multimedia system with up to 12-inch display, and an 'Atami Bamboo' interior trim.

Many Hollywood celebrities choose motorhomes for travel and leisure. Dolly Parton, Jason Momoa, Mariah Carey, Matthew McConaughey, and Tom Hanks are known for their love of RVs. For instance, Mariah Carey's motorhome, worth about $2 million, features separate makeup and dressing rooms, a cinema, and a lounge. Tom Hanks sold his used motorhome at auction in 2021 for $200,000, donating the proceeds to charity.

Sprinter-based motorhome: four berths and a full kitchen

Rossmönster has unveiled a motorhome built on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis. The model sleeps four people and features a kitchen with a sink, hob, and dishwasher, as well as a shower cubicle with a composting toilet. Sleeping arrangements include a fold-out double bed in the dining area and a drop-down double bed from the ceiling. The body is made of composite fiberglass, and external storage compartments are provided.

Citroen motorhome cuts off Toyota van on Route 84 near Keléd junction

On June 25, 2026, a German-registered Citroen motorhome caused a collision with a Toyota van at the Keléd junction on Route 84. The motorhome driver, a middle-aged man, failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled onto the main road without yielding to the van approaching from the Sümeg direction. The van struck the motorhome's left rear wheel, causing it to roll into a ditch at the edge of a poppy field. The van driver, a woman, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Markusovszky Hospital in Szombathely; the couple in the motorhome and their dog were unharmed. One lane was closed during the investigation and recovery, but no major traffic jams occurred.

Swift Monza 2026: Compact Ford Transit Custom Motorhome with Four Berths

Swift Group has unveiled the updated Monza 2026, based on the Ford Transit Custom. The motorhome features a pop-up roof with a double bed, a kitchen unit with a 42-liter fridge and a two-burner Dometic hob, and a portable toilet. Standard equipment includes a 240W solar panel, a 95Ah auxiliary battery, a 2.2kW diesel heater, and a 40-liter fresh water tank. It is powered by a 170 hp 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Pricing in the UK starts at £75,490 (approximately $101,000). Official sales in the US are not planned.

EU introduces unified parking card for persons with disabilities

The European Union has adopted two directives creating a European Disability Card and a modernized European Parking Card, valid across all member states. The parking card, featuring a QR code and digital security elements, will replace national parking permits. Holders will automatically receive the same parking conditions as residents of the visited country. Member states have 30 months to transpose the directives into national law and 42 months for full implementation.

1998 Dodge Caravan turned into twin-turbo V8 drift taxi

Savage Racing NW converted a 1998 Dodge Caravan minivan into a rear-wheel-drive drift car. The stock engine was replaced with a 5.3-liter LSx V8 fed by two eBay-style turbos, boost limited to 0.5 bar until brakes are tuned. The drivetrain includes a Tremec TKX-600 five-speed manual and a Winters quick-change rear differential, typically used in oval racing. Front suspension and brakes come from a Nissan 240SX, rear uses a three-link setup with QA1 coilovers.
