From 12 to 20 September 2026, the Salone del Camper will take place in Parma, a key event for the outdoor tourism sector. Organised together with APC, the fair will showcase the growth of motorhome tourism, including compact vans, rental options and short trips that attract new travellers.
According to a study by Ergo (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa), motorhome travel reduces CO₂ emissions by 70%, fossil fuel consumption by 64% and water consumption by 73% compared to traditional holidays. 93% of respondents prefer motorhomes and caravans, while 75% value authentic landscapes.
In 2025, Italian motorhome tourism reached 74 million overnight stays, generating 8.5 billion euros in direct and indirect economic impact. An estimated 68.4 million overnight stays are expected in Italy, with an economic impact of 5.12 billion euros. Sports tourism in 2025 reached 74 million presences and 8.5 billion euros in turnover, while cycle tourism accounted for 49 million presences and 6 billion euros in economic impact.
