CMS Wuhan 2026: RV demand surges, orders booked through October

Hainan Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Co. has filed the Farizon-branded battery-electric motorhome (model HGH5047XLJBEVGT1) with China's MIIT in the 410th batch of new vehicle announcements. The vehicle is offered in two lengths (5490 mm and 5820 mm) and six roof heights, powered by a CATL LFP battery and an Inboer drive motor with 170 kW peak output, with a top speed of 135 km/h or 100 km/h (optional limiter). It comes standard with living equipment such as seats, beds, cooking and sanitary facilities. The filing marks Geely Farizon's entry into the RV segment; registrations of new-energy RVs in China grew 261.2% in 2025 year-on-year.

Jiangsu Weihang Automotive Communication Technology Co., Ltd. has filed a new camper model WHP5040XSY-B1 with MIIT. Based on a JMC chassis with a 2.0L diesel engine, the vehicle measures 4950mm in length and offers two heights (2160mm or 2310mm) to fit underground parking. Standard equipment includes sleeping facilities, storage, sanitary fittings, and air conditioning; ESP and ETC are optional. Weihang operates 126 service outlets and shares 618 service points under the Ford QVM system, but with only 63 employees in 2025, production capacity is limited. Competition is intensifying as SAIC Maxus and Yutong launch similar small campers, and the shift to new energy poses a challenge.

In the MIIT's 410th batch of announcements, Luoyang Lingyu Langchen filed the Langchen LLC5115XLJA1 motorhome. It features a Daimler diesel engine meeting China VI emission standards, dimensions of 5995×2530×3550mm, wheelbase 3845mm, approach angle 41 degrees, departure angle 26 degrees, gross weight 10600kg, and seating for 6. The vehicle uses an imported chassis and off-road tires, targeting the high-end off-road RV segment. In Q1 2026, self-propelled RV sales grew 18.2% year-on-year, with annual demand projected at 140,000 units, but brand recognition and after-sales network remain weaknesses.

Shares of New Gonow RV (00805.HK) rose 9.37% on August 6, lifting its market capitalization to HK$8.515 billion. The rally comes amid poor financial performance and active selling by shareholders.

Chinese startup Squirrel Power has completed Series A and A+ rounds totaling about 200 million yuan, bringing cumulative funding to over 300 million yuan. The funds will be used to scale production and deliveries. The company develops hybrid electric travel trailers for the North American market, targeting outdoor enthusiasts. Investors include industrial and financial institutions such as Yuanhe Puhua, Yuanhe Houwang, Jinshajiang Capital, and others.

In July, the RV town at Qianshan Xiushui Scenic Area in Puding County officially opened, offering personalized long-term rental sites. Currently, over 40 tourists reside long-term, with more than 200 having experienced summer stays. Located 2.4 km from the county seat, the town features full amenities, with each site measuring 6 meters wide and 7 meters deep, allowing for canopies, trailers, or pod units. Positive word-of-mouth via short videos has boosted its reputation, fostering a new summer retreat model.
