An alcove motorhome (Alkoven in German) is a coachbuilt body with a sleeping area that extends over the driver's cab, providing an extra double berth above the cab without increasing the vehicle's overall length.
Alcove motorhomes are popular with families who need the extra sleeping space. The overhead berth is typically accessed via a ladder or steps. These vehicles are taller than semi-integrated models and may be restricted in some low-clearance car parks.
