Closure of campsites in Gunsan
Two public campsites in Gunsan, South Korea, built for a total of 5.7 billion won, have ceased operations due to the lack of private operators.
- Cheonamsan campsite: opened in 2014, cost 3.3 billion won, will be converted into a park golf course.
- Geumgangho campsite: built in 2024 for 2.4 billion won, has 39 camping spots, remained without a private operator who refused management due to financial difficulties; repeated tenders for management failed.
City authorities attribute the problems to reduced demand after the pandemic, facility wear and high rental fees.
