A public campsite in Gunsan, South Korea, built for 2.4 billion won and opened in 2014, has been closed for nearly a year. After the contract with the last operator ended in October last year, 11 attempts to find a new operator failed. The city is considering demolishing the campsite at a cost of about 1.9 billion won and building a park golf course, demand for which is growing: the number of park golf courses nationwide rose from 254 in 2020 to 552 last year, and registered members increased fivefold. Residents are divided, with some supporting the new course and others suggesting keeping the campsite under a different management model.
