Eurotrading NE Ltd has appealed the Lake District National Park Authority's June refusal of plans to replace a touring caravan site with 44 static caravans at Dockray Meadow Caravan Park near Lamplugh. The development control committee voted eight to one against, with one abstention, despite a recommendation to approve. In a statement of case dated 6 October, planning consultancy Lichfields said the touring site 'has already been lost' because the Caravan and Motorhome Club closed it at the end of the 2024 season, citing poor performance and a lack of members. The authority's refusal notice said the closure was 'not considered to be a fair indication of the demand' and members questioned how individually owned static caravans would be prevented from becoming permanent homes. The appeal, reference 6017378, is being considered through written representations.
