The campsite in Hooksiel on the North Sea coast has been run by the Berlin-based Überland Camping group since 1 January 2026. During the 2026 season the operator upgraded infrastructure, including the electricity network to 16 amps at pitches, water pipes and the digitalisation of the motorhome stopover at Ostdüne. The nudist area will close at the end of 2026, after which the Naturistenbund Wilhelmshaven-Friesland, which had about 250 members, will dissolve in 2027. A petition against the closure gathered around 1,700 signatures, but the decision stood.
