In 1973, California-based Sportswagon, Inc. introduced the experimental Sportswagon, later renamed Majestic SL-18. The 18-foot-long van featured a pop-up roof, transverse sleeping berths, and was marketed as a multi-purpose vehicle. The project involved an engineer who contributed to the Jet Ski and 1989 Cadillac Eldorado, but it never reached mass production.
