In the 1960s, aircraft engineer David G. Peterson designed the Ultra Van motorhome with aluminum monocoque construction and a Chevrolet Corvair engine. Weighing under 3,000 pounds, it could tow a boat. Production from 1966 to 1970 yielded 346 units, out of about 376 total. Over 100 examples survive today.
