In Italy, more enthusiasts are converting vehicles into motorhomes themselves. According to the Association of Caravan and Motorhome Producers (APC), 7,936 new motorhomes were registered in 2025, up 10.56% year-on-year, while the used market grew 6.05% with over 44,000 transactions. DIY conversion halves costs: a professional conversion of a medium-length vehicle costs €30,000–40,000, while doing it at home costs about half, plus €1,500–3,000 for certification. The Nice Crazy Vans community has 2,000 members, and the Fit Your Camper show in Bologna showcases conversion innovations.
