British courts have issued several rulings against unauthorised caravan sites. In Harlow, the High Court on 12 June stopped construction on land near Harlow Town football club, begun without planning permission. The council leader said there is zero tolerance for illegal development.
Tandridge District Council obtained an injunction for Hill View Manor Park in Warlingham, where more than 20 unauthorised static caravans were placed. The judge ordered the land cleared and restored, except for four pitches for Gypsies and Travellers granted planning permission in 2019. Deadlines range from one day to three months for 25 respondents.
In Winsford, a caravan owner was ordered to leave council-owned land off Blakeydene Lane, where he had been since 14 April. Failure to comply could lead to an unlimited fine, seizure of the caravan or imprisonment. In Cambridgeshire, the High Court issued a year-long injunction on a site in Histon, where the number of caravans grew from five to 17; 12 must be removed. The site lies in the Cambridge Green Belt.
