The municipality of Spotorno has banned sleeping and eating in motorhomes on its territory, marking the ban with signs. The Italian Association of Tourist Campers (ACTI) from Savona sent a formal letter contesting the legality of the measure. According to ACTI, the local regulation contradicts Article 185 of the Highway Code, which allows motorhome parking on public land, and cannot override national law. The association also highlighted the practical unenforceability of the ban, as checking for sleep inside a closed vehicle, considered a private domicile, is impossible without violating domicile rights. In response, local police temporarily suspended the ban.
