An interagency commission, ordered by regional governor Mario Smarkov, discovered numerous illegally placed tents, caravans, and vehicles in the Pasha Dere area near Varna. The inspection involved representatives of the regional administration, police, forestry, environmental inspectorate, fire service, and Avren municipality; Varna municipality representatives were absent.
According to one report, more than 50 caravans and tents were found, plus seven caravans in the forest zone. According to nova.bg, more than 100 illegal caravans and campers were found on Pasha Dere beach, placed outside designated camping areas. For properties on Avren municipality land, demolition orders were issued with a deadline of August 23, while in Varna municipality no such notices were posted due to the absence of local officials. Violators face sanctions under forestry and Black Sea coast development laws, including fines up to 3000 leva. Fines for tents range from 500 to 1000 leva, and for caravans and campers from 1000 to 3000 leva.
Similar inspections in Kara Dere and Dolni Chiflik led to the removal of about 80% of illegal tents and caravans. Pollution after the departure of campers was also noted, with cleanup falling on municipalities. An application for a legal campsite has been submitted in the Shkorpilovtsi villa zone.
