In South Tyrol, authorities have issued 21 fines for wild camping as part of a regional operation. Overnight stays in a motorhome or using a roof tent outside designated areas are considered violations. Fines apply for parking in protected zones, beaches, public spaces, and private land without permission. The distinction between parking and camping is key: setting up chairs, a table, an awning, or cooking can be treated as camping.
