Closure of Illegal Campsite for Motorhomes and Caravans in Almería

A second private initiative to create a motorhome area in the Oyambre Natural Park has been submitted for approval. Both projects, totaling 60 spaces in the Gerra area, were enabled by amendments to Cantabrian legislation that took effect in April 2025.

23-year-old Miriam from Spain published a breakdown of expenses for the first month of living in a motorhome with her partner. The Socialist Party has proposed creating a specific parking area for motorhomes in the municipality of San Vicente del Raspeig. The initiative was raised during the March plenary session, suggesting the infrastructure could be located in an industrial park, following the example of other towns in the province of Alicante.

A 22-year-old Spanish couple plans to move from a rental apartment to a motorhome and published a detailed budget on TikTok. Their monthly expenses will range from 600 to 1200 euros, including fuel, insurance, food, and maintenance. The couple relies on a combined income of 2170 euros and is already saving 910 euros per month to purchase a used motorhome for 15–30 thousand euros.

The Almería City Council is starting work to install bollards and carry out earthworks to block unauthorized access for motorhomes and caravans to the former fairground site. The measures, including a new mobility ordinance, aim to end unregulated parking near the Maestro Padilla Auditorium and the Parque de las Familias. Work will begin this week, with bollard installation scheduled from the 13th.

The free motorhome area in Luarca (Asturias) has been operating since 2023 and is popular with European tourists. The facility has 15 designated spaces, services for dumping wastewater and taking on clean water, and a picnic area.
