Scottish Borders Council has refused planning permission for a £5 million holiday park in Jedburgh. The proposal by CampbellMac Developments Ltd included 40 holiday lodges, creation of 18 jobs, and an office, reception, and manager's dwelling. The site is located west of Earlshaugh Farm.
Councillors on the planning committee unanimously backed the refusal recommendation. Concerns included damage to ecological habitats, including trees and Sites of Special Scientific Interest, as well as inadequate access, noise pollution, and road safety. The application received 13 objections.
A report to the committee highlighted significant adverse impacts on the Teviot Valley that are not outweighed by social, environmental, or economic benefits. Councillors noted that the impact on the landscape and environment would be unacceptable.
